Sound Installation | Flight recorder, Water Container
Every flight recorder, commonly known as the black box, is attached with an underwater acoustic beacon, a locator device that will generate ultrasonic pulse at 37.5kHz once per second for the duration of 10ms, with a range of 3600 meters, once being immersed in water. The beacon will operate for a minimum of 30 days to help the retrieval of the black box after a plane accident. A black box, preserving two hours of cockpit voice recording and twenty-five hours of flying data, implies an underlying answer, a truth waiting to be found.
