Pass Words is an internet art project based on geographical location and Wi-Fi technology. On the client side, the users (we call them Passers) send text messages (words and emoticons) directly to the geographical base station connected to the server, through the website http://showpassword.net. People near the base station can use the Wi-Fi search function, whether on mobile phone or computer, to receive and see the messages sent by all the passers. Passers can chose the anonymity option themselves before sending text out. From the technical point of view, the Wi-Fi name (SSID, Service Set Identifier) is one of the internet layers, but we regard it as a platform for information transfer.
